• To combat the stigma of "homeschooled," especially with family and shocked strangers, Children are ready to say, ā€œI’m taking Afrikaans and then go on to learning Dutch together,ā€ or ā€œI’m studying French and Portuguese.ā€ Because they'll also learn: Afrikaans and Dutch are similar because Afrikaans is a daughter language of Dutch and influenced by other languages like German, making it considerably easier for Dutch speakers to understand than vice-versa. So maybe learning DUTCH before Afrikaans?

• They can also exchange voice notes, encouraging one another and practicing speaking as well as writing.
